Swarnim Gujarat - is that an appropriate celebrations!

Our matru-bhumi, Garavi Gujarat completing its 50 years certainly marks a milestone! Golden Jubilee is obviously a time for celebration... let it be of a film or living entity but is that appropriate when all parts haven't done well?!
On one end, when Gujarat & Gujaratis can't talk enough of facts describing progress we have made... there is one other fact that we must not forget! Is this a true progress if/when it hasn't touched everyone. I think we still have good distance to go...
The other night, when I was driving on roads of Amdavad and was enjoying the mega 'roshani' show put up by city officials & private parties by decorating their buildings and streets... all that still could not stop me noticing tons of people leaving on those nicely paved footpaths, cooking their roti-sabaji right there on 'chula' and kids changing cloths as they get ready to hit their lavish bed 'lari' under the open sky! I am not even talking about their health, house or environment but still, I couldn't stop wondering... have they and us accepted all that as norm while we celebrate Swarnim Gujarat OR we need to do much more important things then spending crores on celebration? What do you all say?
